Well - I think the worst is over now....
the family has departed and arrived at their destination safely, and I
am still alive and doing okay at keeping myself occupied...Yesterday I had to drive to a mandatory meeting in Jefferson City, MO,
which is about two hours from where I live. It was at the state
health department, and a requirement for me to keep my job.
I was so paranoid about missing it that although the meeting didn't
start until 1pm, I left a little after 7am , with the thought process
that even if the car blew up on the way there, I for sure could find a
way to still get there with that four hour padding.Well, the car did not explode, and I was there before 9:30, which meant
that I had several hours to kill. Fortunately for me, right down
the street there was a Barnes and Noble [one of my favorite places to
go and get lost btw]. So I hung out there and looked at a
bajillion books [totally restrained and did not buy any however] until
it was time to head back down the street to the health department. The meeting lasted all of forty five minutes tops.
Yep - that was definitely worth my time.I headed home, and even with stops, was home before five. Ten
minutes before I got home though, my boss called my cell and asked if I
had plans for the night - she had a pair of box seats to the St Louis
Cardinals game against the SF Giants that she couldn't use, and offered
them to me. I called my brother Joe [who like me was not able to
go with the family to the Gulf] to see if he had plans and if he wanted
to go with me. He promptly cancelled his plans.
I thought that it would be a good diversion - the family was supposed
to be leaving at 11pm to drive through the night - [better that way
with little ones involved], and I wouldn't have to say goodbye to them
yet again...so off we went. What a great game - I am by no means a sports fan, but this was my
first time in the new stadium, and there is something super fun about
just being surrounded by tons of people having a good time and enjoying
a game that is infectious...the Cardinals won by a whopping 14-4.
It is even better when 'your' team wins.We got home just as the family was leaving....ugh. Dad and mom
hopped out of the vehicle to hug me one last time, and my sweet sister
called me from the road which left me a mess by the time she finished
saying goodbye. double ugh. Good grief. What an
emotional mess I am.Today is better. Worked all day and am now home - intended
to go for a run/walk when I got home, but it was already pretty dark,
and as you already know, I am a big fat scaredy cat. So I ordered
pizza instead and am settled in listening to my new CD. [don't
judge me too harshly on this one folks - I promise there is a very
good, nostalgic reason for me to be listening to AC/DC.
] (Am I sinking further into 'heathen-dom' Tracy?
)Tomorrow after work I head to the Mucci's. sigh. good times. Thanks for praying ya'll.

HOLY cow on the 45 minutes. Come on people! But hello Cardinals seats. That must have been so much fun! I'm sorry about the timing with your family, but I'm glad I was one of your distractions...for a while anyway.
Enjoy your cd!
I spent a day of my honeymoon at a Cardinal's game. What a REALLY fun place to be! That is my husband's favorite album of all time. You're so cool. Your pool boy is right; you are hot!
Ooooooooh!! Back in Black!!! I must be heathen too... I love that song
Takes me back to the good 'ol high school days
RYC: Thanks for your continued support and prayers!! It really, really means a lot to me!
yay for you having such a good time even though the fam is gone....did you scream your head off at the Card's game...i would have...hee hee! ac/dc??? yeah...you're a heathen all right! lol! can i go to the mucci's with you....pretty please??!! really, have a great time!
I just read your last post
I went to Dauphin Island this summer, and it still is kinda run down from the hurricane, if that makes you feel any better (I know it doesn't because it's family time you will probably miss). But, Dauphin Island was still nice, very private. Ok, I'll shut up about that now.
My son Jacob lives in St. Louis and he loves to go to Cardinal games. It seems like he goes alot! Glad you got a little diversion there!! They will be back before you know it!
Ha. My family leaves late at night too, to avoid the "stop every thirty minutes for the potty" joys of traveling with little kids.
And Barnes and Noble. Could there be a better way to waste time? I think not.
i'm just sitting here waiting on you friend
Bummer about your car and after all that the meeting was only 45 minutes. I lived in Jefferson City way back in the day! 1990 to be exact then we moved to kirksville, Missouri and then to Springfield, Mo. Now I live way far away in Idaho, but Jeff's family is still in Springfield.
Anyway, I hope you are doing OK with the fam all being gone. You are clever at keeping yourself entertained, hee hee, AC/DC you go girl!!!
RCY: The song is Ana Ng
And fwiw I had to look up the lyrics online because I was drawing a complete blank. Then I called my DH at work to give him a little TMBG trivia and would you believe even with my baby screaming in the phone and apparently "Beat It" playing in the background at his work, he was able to name Ana Ng almost immediately? He's the man
'Invincible' was great!! Definitely a movie you and your brothers would enjoy!
you totally need to watch the movie. it's great.
Love you. BIG.
I love you too. Maybe not as BIG as vicki.... but I still love ya!
My dear friend. What an emotional day you've had. I have meetings like yours all the time. Drive 3.5 hours each way to Little Rock for an hour long meeting. Very frustrating. Love you big too.
