The [kinda] weekly update...
Sorry all - once again, time has slipped away from me...
It has been a super busy week, filled with lots of fun.
Last Thursday my BFF Jen came to town to visit for the weekend - it was pretty much the highlight of my year...one of those idyllic weekends that you really couldn't plan better if you tried. Walking, talking, exploring and trying new things together [like the farmers market on Saturday morning - I found some of the absolute yummiest jam EVER], watching Baby Mama and the Office [season 3], laughing our guts out, drinking LOTS of yummy coffee and hot chocolate, staying up late, sleeping in later than either of us normally do, looking at the photo history of Havah and her life [all THREE photo boxes - I know...yawn, right? She totally dug it. Go figure.]. The weather was beautiful, and it was so fun to show her all around - where I work and live - doing the meet and greet with the family, seeing where I grew up. I took her up to campus to show her around - all of the buildings and places that I spend so much time in. She even got to meet one of my professor/friends, Flo. Sigh. It was so good. Just breathing the same air and being in the same space was so incredibly comforting. Sometimes it is just nice to have your BFF's face right there in the same room when you are pouring your guts out [rather than on the phone]. She does my heart SO. MUCH. good. There really are no words. I love you Jen - thank you for making the trip and for taking the time to come. You blessed me beyond words.
We did not get many pictures, but here is one for all you visual folks. This was taken on the beautiful back deck of the house that I am living in...[just fyi - our shirts really weren't THAT close in color - they just look that way in the picture. I will admit that it looks super 'matchy-matchy'...]
Then since my lovely roomie Tina was taking the picture for Jen and I, I thought I should take advantage of being in the same space together [cause we are hardly ever in the house at the same time] and so she hopped over and we had our picture taken together as well.
Isn't she lovely? I cannot even tell you how grateful I am for Tina - she is so sweet. Inside and out, and so super easy to live with...
Sunday Jen left [yes - I cried absolute buckets - all while reminding myself that I am lucky to have friends that I love enough to cry over when they leave], and Sunday afternoon was the wedding shower for my soon to be sister in love Nichol. I dorked out and didn't remember my camera until the end, so I have no pictures from the shower. It was fun and she and my brother Joe got a lot of cool stuff. I was thinking as I sat there how different it is to have a brother get married than it is to have a sister get married. I was so involved with Hannah's wedding - not so much with any of my brothers...it felt a little odd to be a sister, and a member of the bridal party and yet be sitting there so far removed from the whole process - basically I am showing up for celebratory stuff that other people plan. Don't get me wrong - I love them, and at this point in my very busy life I am super grateful to not be in the middle of all the planning. It is just odd and different. At any rate - everyone was leaving when I remembered my camera, so I did get a good picture of my sister Hannah and I.
Anyway. Sunday night I went to my sister and brother in
love's house to visit with them and the babies. I haven't gotten
pictures of Ian and Hadassah lately, so I brought my camera to get some
pictures with them.... As soon as I got in the door at John and Hannah's, Ian was hitting me up to play Candyland with him. Even at three years old, the kid has serious Candyland skills - he totally beat me. And I am telling you - even at the tender age of three, and for a little boy that I adore - I DON'T throw games. I am all about fostering a competitive spirit.
He is sooooo good about cheesing for the camera - sheesh - those eyes are killer, aren't they? So while we were on the floor anyway, I decided to try and get some pictures of Hadassah. She, unlike her brother, is NOT so good at the picture taking. We tried one first with both of them...
Haha - not so much. Then it was a game to try and see if I could get her to stay on my lap AND smile at the camera all at the same time...
Here is the best one
Playing peek-a-boo with mommy....
Sweet picture of my sissy and 'baby girl' [as Ian calls her].
And last, but not least - a little sibling love. Pinch, poke....
I love my family. Have I mentioned that lately?
Gotta go to bed. Later friends....
