  • And the saga continues...

Well - going to the doctor today for what I thought was going to be my last time to see him, I got different news than I expected.

Turns out that I am really not being a baby about the residual pain in my foot - it is actually one of the screws that has come out of the bone and is rubbing across the tendon underneath my foot.  SICK.  Essentially, that rotten screw is working its way out of my foot.  No wonder there has been some discomfort - I have been trying to convince myself that it was just scar tissue or my body adjusting to having seven pieces of metal inserted, and that it would eventually go away.

Apparently I was wrong and soooooo - at some point in the next week or so I will be going back in for another surgery to have all of the metal taken out...

Yes, I did in fact break down and cry at the news.

The good news in all of this is that according to the xray, the bone itself [you remember - the one that refused to heal without said metal holding it together] is now looking completely mended.  AND if I can believe the good doctor, he says that the recovery time for getting the metal out will be MUCH quicker than when it was put in.

I'll keep you updated - as of right now, don't know exactly when the surgery will be....pray for me if you think about it.  I am bummed and don't want to wallow there...

  • ....sigh...so sorry you're bummed, my friend!! but you know what? at least you know your screws really ARE loose! love you! will be praying!

  • At least they can do something for you to relieve the pain. When I was 12 I was thrown off a horse and broke my leg. A pin was put in below my knee to support traction and later a full leg cast. By the end of the 6 weeks w/cast, my pin broke in half and the weight of the cast on the pin was torture. My mom thought I was just being a baby until she had to hold me down on the table while they took the pin out. I sure hope you get some relief SOON! That hurts. Praying for you as always.

  • You. have. got. to. be. kidding.

I'm so sorry that you'll have to have another surgery, BUT...this could be a major God thing if your foot heals and doesn't need the flippin' metal.  I'll be praying.

  • Ugh, what a freaking bummer!! I'm so sorry to hear about all this... but, the upside is that you should be pain-free, and SOON!! If it's not one thing, it's another... and hey, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? I'll be thinking of you

  • Okay...just read SaDonna's comment!  bahahahahaha

  • ugh!! i'm just sick for you. i am really sorry. but you can do it! you WILL be off crutches soon for real.

  • boo hoo :(   I'm so sorry!!!

  • Oh maann!!!  Another foot thing?  I'm so sorry! That totally stinks!!!  I think I would've broken down and cried too!!! I mean, praise Jesus that your foot is healed.  But that screw thing sounds so painful!
I'll be praying for oyou...the end will come!  I love you!!!

  • SaDonna is a quick one!  I'm so sorry your silly foot is still causing you problems.  Look at the bright side.  If you are going back on crutches, now that your in school maybe some cute guy will carry your books.

  • Okay. SaDonna is hilarious. On the down side: BLECK to the pain/surgery/recovery time... after school has begun, no less. On the up side: WOW. You healed! AND they can FIX it! That's awesome, really. On the school front: I'd just about bet all the money in my pockets that your profs will be ubber lenient about the school work/classes missed. It could be a heck of a lot worse. Glad you're not imagining things, because that would suck even worse!

  • We all agree with SaDonna's comment on you having a screw lose. At least you have proof to use the rest of us can't use that excuse!
We are praying for quick recovery and He grace is sufficient for you today friend. Love ya!

  • ryc:  Hey...was in Marble Falls today.  Sat under the same tree where we ate ice cream cones and Tori found the frog.  :)   Yeah, I thought about ya.

  • i am still up for riding you around in the bike carrier if you want.  I love you friend.
