  • Once again, it has been a while - not sure what to write.....

hmmmmm - what to say, what to say?

School starts in a week and a half.  Pretty much everything is in order - I still need to go pick up my books and parking permit, and am thinking of a last minute schedule change, but pretty much all of that can be done in a short trip [I hope] next week.

Pray for me if you think about it - I found out yesterday that one of the loans that I was kind of counting on to help me out is not going to happen - basically school will be covered, but I am going to be working a lot more hours than I was planning on in order to pay my bills.  I know that people do it all the time when they are going to school - in fact, I have done it before - but it is taking some major adjustment, and for the first time in a long time I am actually going to really be careful of how and when I spend money.

For those of you who know me better than others, you know that I am not super good about telling myself 'no' or 'wait' for anything.  I admit this has never been a strong point, and I am feeling the effects of it now BIG TIME.  It is one of those lessons that I put off learning [knowing better] in the sincere hope that it would not come back and bite me on the bottom side....but unfortunately that would not be the reality or the case this time.

So last night and the first part of today were pretty much spent in a pity party, shifting this afternoon into begrudging and somewhat resigned acceptance, and this evening to a hightened resolve to learn this lesson once and for all and to learn it well.  Its about time I start taking responsibility and learn some self control.  I am not getting any younger after all...better do it now.  This is a new chance.

[Aren't you glad that you are privy to my own little pep talk? ]

But enough of that - how about some of the backlog of pictures that I have been saving up?
I have some fun ones from the 4th of July that are only a month late...

    With no further ado...

My sister Hannah, and nephew Ian at the pool early in the day

Ian in his dinosaur towel - you can't see it, but there are spikes [soft ones of course] on the back - super cute.  Plus, the blue makes his eyes stand out even more - wow.

My niece Hadassah in all of her naked chubbiness

Me with my brother Ben's three girls - Addison, Bethany and Tabitha

Its a shame these girls don't like the camera.

Jannah, me and Hannah - man, I love my sisters!

    Mom and Dad

John, Ian, Hannah, and Hadassah - aren't they a sweet family?

I don't think I have enough pictures of Hadassah and I...can you believe those fantastic cheeks she has going on?

My favorite of any event - the funnel cake!

Bethany and Tabitha wore 3-D glasses that their daddy got them during the fireworks - they make me laugh!

Last, but not least - this is my favorite...my nephew Ian was totally freaked out by the fireworks this year - so this is how he watched the show...at least before he FELL ASLEEP!

So there you have it - better late than never, right?  Right.

  • You are going to do great through school and the finances will work out.  I have confidence in you!

The pics are great!!!  Looks like loads of fun!

RYC:  I did work with them, teaching them a song in Sign.  It's "He Knows My Name".  They are competing in the National competition in Indiana this week.  I had planned to go with them, but my childcare situation didn't work out.

Hope you are having a great day!

  • i say the less loans the better anyway---you can DO it!! and love the pics. um, where can i find a funnel cake? you just ignited a serious craving!

  • I'm proud of you for preparing to make the hard choices!  I have yet to ask you what you are going back to school to finish.  How much longer do you have?  I am three years out but very excited about the courses I will be taking once I get the basic stuff finished this year.

I love the pic of Ian with the dinosaur towel.  You're right, his eye color pops out with that towel on his head.  Absolutely precious.  All the pictures are great... but your family always photographs well!

  • Those are some cuuuuute kids. Mercy. The K clan knows how to make them pretty. =)

  • Awesome pics. The chubby cheeks on Hadassah are adorable :)

Here's a little sprinkling of additional pep for you *~*~*~*

RYC: I passed your compliment on to my MIL (yes, that's her in the picture with the grandkids) and you made her day :)

  • wow, i had no idea how much you and hannah look alike!  sheeesh, what a beautiful family you've got, havah!  no kidding!

i got the sweetest card in the mail today [we've been back and forth to rsvl this week] from the sweetest person.... THANK YOU for the thank you.... it totally wasn't necessary!  but i loved it!  it was perfect.  :o )

    love you.

  • I know I've said it before but I'll say it again.  DANG girl, your family is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • From reading the other comments you have to admit there is something strangely amazing and beautiful about your family. Really not all families have that many good looking people in it. Outside of mine and yours there may be a few others. HA!! Thanks for the pictures. It's good to SEE you!! We'll be praying for the finances.

  • I will keep praying for you. You know Mieke and me and our baby prayers. I am really trying hard to do the same with my household allowance. everything went up in cost so we are really buckling down. One thing about being in school and working is you won't have time to shop!

What a beautiful family. Lucky duck. How is your foot doing, btw?

  • have i told you lately how proud I am of you and how glad I am that you are my friend?

  • ryq: we went to ft. smith this weekend for pre-teen arkansas [for avery].  we got back late last night [sun] and i've arranged some appts tomorrow with realtors here to come see the house.  we've packed up all clothes, etc we'll be taking to my mom's and will be leavnig here tomorrow [tues] for "good" -- elementary open house is tomorrow night at 5:45, so we wanted to be in town for that.  my first day at work is thursday.... ugh.  [not ugh, really, but it just seems my summer was tooooo short]  school starts for the kids on monday.

  • Well, you have a leg up on me learning the self-control thing.  I'm learning it at 40.  So glad our Father has boatloads of grace!  All the pictures were great.  Thanks for sharing.  I'm looking forward to all of the interesting college posts.  :)

  • ryc:  I don't have the picture frames up yet.  I'm about to overhaul Tori's room and I'll put them up then.  Pictures will follow.  I'll post the cake recipe.  Have a smoke poised and ready...it's that good.  Yeah...that pic of Tori and Jaxson...priceless.  I have enjoyed just watching the love fest (that was so not staged or coached) for the past two days.

  • Great post!
I love all the pics.  Especially the ones with you and Hadassah!  She's a doll!
Your whole family is just too cute.
