  • And the saga continues.....
[Caution for those with queasy stomachs - questionable photos ahead]

So I went back to the doctor today for my follow-up appointment thinking that I might get the stitches out and be able to start walking on my foot soon...

No dice - apparently I am going to be on the crutches for a MINIMUM of six weeks total - and 'we will re-assess and talk about it at that point'.

Sigh.  Looks like it's gonna be a super fun summer...

For those of you who are squeamish, DON'T LOOK at the following pictures - I think they are cool, but some of you may think it is sick...

Here is the x-ray of my foot from today - turns out I was wrong about the metal count in my foot - it is actually one plate and SIX screws...sheesh.  Talk about overkill.  That is a LOT of metal.

Here I am inspecting my foot for the first time - I was surprised at how big the incision was - if I counted correctly, that is 18 or 19 stitches - and if you are curious, it is almost three inches long.

And the [SICK] close-up.... I love that you can still see the 'yes' on the top of my foot - cool that they cleaned everything up so well when they were through...

There you go folks - sorry if you are throwing up now - I promise it LOOKS a lot worse than it actually is...[I think]....

  • not bad pictures at all!! cool. sorry about the crutches though!! i'll be thinking of your arm pits.

  • I totally thought it would look worse!! I hope you're feeling well, and able to get around a little better

  • Cool pictures! I'm so sorry 'bout the crutches though....that's a bummer. You'll be a pro at the whole running on crutches thing in no time, I'm sure!! :D

  • Wow, those are some serious stitches girl! With all the metal you aren't going to be able to get through the airports as quickly as you might have before, but all in all you look great. I didn't come close to throwing up, as a matter of fact, I love your toenail polish, cute color!

  • kk is a hoot! sorry about the six weeks! sheez!

  • *Sigh* I can't imagine how your foot feels or how your pits feel, but I'm tellin' ya' you might have some super robotic action in that foot now! Check it out! It's awesome the things that medicine can mend these days. How are you? I miss you. Take care of my friend and relax with a good book today, please.

  • Wow!  That is some serious metal in your foot... Will it stay in or will they remove it when it is healed.  I must tell you that you are doing a wonderful job keeping us updated.  And you have a great spririt for all that is going on with your foot.

  • Wow that's awesome! Heal fast girlie! I'm praying for you!

  • TaNaNaNaNaNaNa (bionic woman sound).  You are awesome.  You must be quite a pro on those crutches now.  You won't remember how to walk normally once you are finished.  Hey--does this mean more time off work?? And perhaps a recuperative trip to healing NWA?

  • ryc:  as much as I would love to hear your voice, tonight will probably be chaos since the family is departing in the morning.  There will be much laundry, packing and locating toys.  Tomorrow night would be very good.  Actually, I'm off work tomorrow, so pretty much anytime tomorrow after about 9 or 10 a.m.

  • Hey look, I'm such a great prayer partner that I actually got sympathy pains ;) (check out my blog for the whole story) But at least now when my toe hurts, I'll remember to pray for you!

I am out of school...well at least till summer school starts on the 29th. Whoop for biochemistry!

  • Nice to see that your manicure is still intact. Cute toes.

RYC:Diana and I did seminary together and then traveled together. Portugal was fabulous, never been there before and we got a BOGO airfare. Memphis was, well, because it was there and we could drive to it in one day. Also did Disney Floria and drove to Boca Raton for a John Pizzarelli concert. Diana was at Mieke's shower --she knitted the blanket and gave M the Harrod's teddy bear.

Give Max and Josh birthday hugs from me. And a smooch for Wendy.

  • ouch - those pics make my butt hurt.

    don't ask me why.

  • I guess I'm actually kind've a sicko.  I like to watch surgery things on T.V. and I've had the privilage of interpreting a couple of surgeries.  I'm glad you're healing good, but sorry it's taking so long for you.
